A recent company project saw a group of Fort Vale Apprentices design and manufacture a stand for the installation of a community defibrillator.

Oliver Healey, who is currently studying his ‘Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Degree Apprenticeship’ through UCLan, came up with the idea for the installation, to support the community close by to our Simonstone headquarters.

‘These community defibrillators are real life savers; this particular cabinet will be accessible 24/7 to the public.

I’ve been volunteering for the Northwest Ambulance Service for over a year now – I know how beneficial they are when the time comes to needing one. Hopefully this will never have to get used.’

Tom Hall, who is in year 2 of his Metal Fabricator Apprenticeship at Burnley College, spent time welding and fabricating the stand to an excellent standard and finish.

Our 4th year Training 2000 Mechatronics Apprentice, Daniel Lord, then installed the full unit and device.
